SAFETY ZONES.

EIGHTEEN MORE IN AUCKLAND,

APPROVED BY COUNCIL. Eighteen new safety zones for tramway passengers were sanctioned by the City Council last evening. The sites of the zones will be: —Near intersection of Stanley Street and Beach Road, in trip (100 feet); Customs Street East, in trip; Customs' Street East, out trip; (This involves removal from zone areas of motor-cab stands); Customs Street West, in trip; Customs Street West, out trip; Queen Street, north of Victoria Street, out trip; Queen Street, south of Victoria Street, in trip; Queen and Wellesley Streets, north side, out trip (Pole No. 35; stop altered); Queen and Wellesley Streets, south side, in trip (Pole No. 6701); Karangahape Road, top of Queen Street, east side, out trip; Karangabape Road and intersection of Symonds Street, out trip, opposite facing points opposite Tivoli Theatre; Karangahape Road, near intersection of Pitt Street, opposite Ceo. Court's, out trip; Karangahape Road and Pitt Street, opposite hotel, in trip; Pitt Street, Karangahape Road, in Pitt Street, out trip (stop altered); intersection of Karangahape Road and Ponsonby Road, out trip; intersection Karangahape Road and Ponsonby Road, opposite reservoir in Ponsonby Road, in trip; Hobson Street, corner of Wellesley Street, opposite St. Matthew's Church, out trip; and Remuera Road, Victoria Avenue tram stop, out trip.

The question of zones in Queen Street, at the foot of Wyridham Street was referred back to the Tramway Committee.
