METHODIST PROGRESS.

1 NEW CHURCH AT REMUERA. The new Methodist Church, in Vincent Avenue, Remuera, a fine structure, up-to-date, and commodious, has been completed to replace the Clonbern Road Hall, and will be opened to-morrow evening at 7.45. The church built in brick and surmounted by an imposing square tower, rests on the hill overlooking the green fields and homes of the southern suburban district. Tbe design is English Gothic, embodying some of the characteristics of the Norman period. Seating accommodation is provided for 260 worshippers, but the plans provide for an extension to seat a further 200. The furnishings and inside' fittings. Beatings, and pulpit, etc.. were carried out by Henderson and Pollard with satisfaction. The builder is Mr. Noel Cole, and the architect Mr. E. A.Pearee ? of Kpsom. Tlie total cost of the church, including the site and furn:s«hings was over .tfiOOO, and the cost of the actual building is covered by a gift of £4200 by the late Mr. Hugh Gilmore, of Newmarket. A handsome brass tablet has been erected in the church to his memory. The Rev. J. Richards ilias been appointed minister. The dedication service will take place 10-morrow, the Rev. C. H. Laws to be the celebrant. The Rev. J. A. Lochore, superintendent minister of the circuit, will conduct the first service on Sunday next.
