Mr. H. C. Mclntyre. managing-director of the Universal Film Manufacturing Go., arrived in Auckland this morning on brief visit, and leaves for Sydney on Friday. He is accompanied by Mr. G. F. Eskell, the company's manager in New Zealand. The many friends of Chief Defective Mcllveney. who has been absent from duty for over a week owing to illness, will be glad to learn that his health is improving. Writing from London o n September 29, (says the "Month") Bis-jop Cleary says:—=-"1 am again in London by arrangement, for further consultation with my medical advisers. The improvement in health has been very great indeed, but I get, from time to time, indications that recovery is not evet by any means complete, and that further rest and treatment are required." Mr. C. Jones, manager for Huddart. Parker Ltd., Wellington, arrived at Auckland this morning, and is staving at the Grand Hotel. Mr. \|\ Higgins. of Wellington, who arrived this morning by the Main Trunk express, is at the Grand Hotel. Mr. J. Phillip, of Wellington, is staying at the Central Hotel. Mr. Bernard Page. Wellington city organist, arrived by this morning's express, and is staying at Arundel. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Prouse, of Wellington, are at Arundel. Visitors at the Central Hotel include Mr. C. W. Williams, of Sydney, and Mr. J. Barrett, of Wellington. The Mayor of Christchurch has received a postcard from M. Henri Verbrugghen. who was then at Xew York, stating that he would return to Australia in February or July next. In order to pursue further medical study in England, Dr. G. R. Connolly, of I the medical staff of the Auckland Hospital, has resigned. Having accepted tho position of superintendent of the Mangonui Hospital. Dr. M. D. Price, is leaving Rotorua, after a stay of four and a half years. Mr. C. E. Matthews. Under-Secretary for the Justice Department, is at present in Tauranga on departmental business. He expects to return to Rotorua towards the end 0 f the present week.
A visitor to New Zealand at present is the Rev. J. Thompson, who has worked ror the past ten years in Chekiang Province, China.
