MR. E. H. LYONS.

Word has been received by Mr. A. P. Friend of the death of Mr. Edmund Humphrey Lyons at 40, St. James' Square, Bath, England, on September 19. He was the eldest son of the late Col. Willoughby Lyons, of the Bombay Staff Corps. India, and lived the greater part of hie life abroad. He was formerly for many years Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages at Auckland, and j was a well-known resident of St. I Stephen's Avenue, Parnell. He married the daughter of the Hon. Thompson, member for Maraden, known to many as "Mareden Thompson." Mr. Lyons came of a distinguished family, being a great nephew of Admiral Lord Lyons, of Crimean fame, and a nephew of the late Sir Algernon Lyons, Admiral of the Fleet. He went through the Zulu war, being amongst the first six at the relief of Rorke's Drift. Mr. Lyons is survived by hie widow and an" only son, Mr. Algernon Edmund Lyons, husband of the daughter of the Hon. Mrs. Boyle.
