DR. MANNIX'S RETURN.
WELCOME IN SYDNEY. MOBBED BY KNEELING CROWDS. * SYDNEY, August 10. Dr. Mannix (Roman Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne) returned to-day. An imposing demonstration of welcome was organised, including a much-benagged procession of Roman Catholic societies and returned Irish soldiers. After Dr. Mannix left the Cathedral, where he was officially welcomed, he was mobbed by an immense crowd, hundreds of people going on their knees before him to receive his blessing.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
