THE RACING COMMISSION.
ROTORUA TO TAURAXGA. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TAUKANGA, Monday. The members of the Racing Commi;;eion arrived at Tauranga this afternoon from Rotorua. On the way through the Commission inspected the Paengaroa and Te Puke Hack Racing Club's course at Maketu Junction, and received a deputation which urged the granting of a totalisator permit. The Commission inspected the Bay of Plenty Jockey Club's course at Gate Pa, near Taurangu, where they were received by Mr. \V. H. Paterson (president) and other officials of the Bay of Plenty Jockey Club. The commission will leave to-morrow morning for Whakatane and Opotiki, and will go to Gisborne, Tolago Bay, and VV'airoa. Picton will then be visited, and an inspection of the South Island racecourses commenced.
