Raphael, chairman of the New Zealand Cricket Council, i≤ at present on a visit to Wellington in connection w:th the visit of the Australian team. When approached for an expression of opinion in regard to the team, Mr. Kaphael said: ""The final selection is much stronger;; than the one announced in the first insta-nee. And is a very capable and well balanced side.'' Naturally, he ~aij. he \vn- d : *appointed that C. B. ill- was unable to make the trip, but Moves, who has rt>pi:iced him. is a splendid bat. ami only last week complied the big score of 243 in Melbourne. He :.- greatly impressed with the keen interest being shown not only in Wellington but throughout the "whole of New Zealand in the impending tour, whkh gives promise of being the most successful yet undertaken by the Council. "You can take it from mc," said Mr. Raphael, "that New Zealand cricketers will give a good account of them?elve3. The standard of cricket, especially in Wellington and Auckland, is most promising, and augurs well for the success of the matches which will eventuate with the Australians. There are some likely test cricketers playing under the minor associations, and the match which is to be played at Wellington should prove a jig draw. "Altogether. I am very optimistic regarding the complete success of the tour," concluded Mr. Raphael, "which will do local cricketers an immense amount of good."'
