FIRE AT ELLERSLIE.
I DWELLING AND CONTENTS ; DESTROYED. A six-roomed dwelling belonging to Mrs. Mary Walker was totally destroyed by lire early this morning, none of the , furniture being saved. It is thought the lire started iv the vicinity of the wash--house. Mr. and Mrs/ Walker were awakened by the smoke, and had only time to save their three little children, ; escaping themselves barefooted, Ln their night attire. The house was situated at j the corner of tlreat South and Jubilee j Roads, just behind Ellerslie'Puolic School. jThe alarm was rung out at about 2.30 i a.m., but the flames had such a strong jhold that the Ellerslie Brigade, although .promptly in attendance, had no -chance lof checking the progress of the flames. jThe One-tree Hill Fire Brigade also arrived on the scene from tlie station at' Green Lane. The house and the whole contents were totally destroyed.
