The Prince of Wales and his Staff were initiated on crossing the Line, the ceremonies being carried out with great pomp and circumstance on board the Renown on April 16 and 1". Neptune boarded the ship with his attendant court in striking and original costumes, and announced that he was honoured by the desire of His Royal Highness to be initiated as King Neptune's friend and a member of the Sea King's brotherhood. The Prince was then invested with the Order of the Royal Equatorial Bath, and was afterwards duly ehaved and ducked in accordance with timehonoured practice.
