LONDON, February 10. Two hundred armed men captured Castle Martyr police barracks, Cork. There were many casualties during the affray. Masked and armed Sinn Feiners raided the drifter Arklow at Dublin on Saturday, and removed thirteen boxes containing half a ton of gelignite. The drifter loaded gelignite on Thursday at Kynoch's explosive factory, which was recently closed, in order to transport it elsewhere. She was compelled to return to port by stress of weather. Meantime the military guard had been withdrawn. The raiders took positions on various parts of the quays, while a party boarded the drifter from a small boat, surprising and binding the watchmen. The raiders were well acquainted with explosives, and selected only the finished product. The police and military did not succeed in tracing the gelignite. Seventy Sinn Feiners were arrested at Munster and removed to Cork gaol under a strong military guard, including armoured cars. They were placed on war vessels at Queenstown and taken to an English port. An aeroplane circled overhead until the vessels were at sea. (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
