THE HATPIN MENACE.

<To he Editor.) Sir, —Now that summer is nigh and huge crowds will be on the move, also congregating at amusement houses, it is just .as well to remind the fair sex who use rather long, unprotected, protruding hatpins that they are liable to prosecution for this offence. On several occasions recently when standing in a tram car returning from work, the writer has had to keep his eye on the unprotected hatpin of some fair one in front, in case of getting a perforation in the eye or face with an apology for compensation. With the approach of the holiday season a reminder through your valuable columns of the necessary" use of protectors for protruding pins should benefit much many present offenders, also tic public in general.—l am, etc., HATPIN.
