Miss Gillanders was appointed secretary, and Mr. E. Tolme treasurer. Before departing refreshments were I partaken of, provided by the ladies. Mr. I Beattie expressed his great 'pleasure at the visit, and voiced an opinion that he'thongSt the district an excellent one, with a great future. X On afternoon last the pubu* met for the purpose of straightening thing out in connection with the hall. A most satisfactory business meeting was held, when all things were put on a good basilMr. E. J. Graham holds the position of chairman, and Mr. Geo. King that of secretary. The Aria basketball team journeyed » Pio PIo on Saturday last to try conclusions with the Te Mapara Club. The game •proved enjoyable. Aria scoring 15 points to their opponents 4. The former played ott the whole a good game, Te Mapara excelling in the passing. ■ •Some years ago the Revs. Piggott and Wain, of the Church of England, paid occasional visits to Aria, and also a Mr. Wallace. A church section of some five acres was bought, and -Mr. Ward ennvassed the district for funds. More recently, wlft Mr. Barnett as vicar, greater energy has been displayed. Mr. A. J. Kelghley made another and very successful canvass, with th-e result that it was decided to. obtain •plans .for a church. Several were submitto/! snrt one chosen.
