In common with other centres, the butter shortage is becoming acute ffl Palmerston North. The secretary of the Local Dairy Union states there ara absolutely no stocks of good butter, and only five tons of -whey butter in the hands of retailers. There will be no supplies for about three weeks, when the new season should commence. In connection with the notice in another column regarding a rise in the price of tea in India and Ceylon, further advice by cable is to the effect that the cause of the last advance is that tha weather is seriously affecting the crpD.
