AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION.

_ ■ THE ANNUAL MEETING, The annual meeting of the Anckland Autor mobile Association was held last night at the Chamber of Commerce, the vice-presi-dent Mr. George Heoning, being in the chair. The report and balance sheet were adopted. . , The secretary explained that the pravti lege under which he had bought small lines of benzine for -the use of members, thereby, effecting a saving of about fourpence per case had been withdrawn at the Instance of tie Motor Garage Proprietors' Association He had protested against this stand, but the president of the Garage Proprietors* Association had informed him that they could not recede from the position they, had taken up, but were willing to help the association in other ways. The incoming committee was deputed to interview the garage proprietors, and it was also decided that the committee should consider the wisdom of developing the objects of the association, with especial reference to the provision of an. association garage. The committee was further instructed tai consider the desirability of asking the police to enforce the vehicular traffic bylaws* in order to prevent drivers of cars from monopolising the road and driving unTigtited carts at night. The matter of requesting the City Council to make bylaws regulating pedestrian traffic was also referred to the committee. Another matter discussed was the right: or otherwise of owners of motor vehiclea used for commercial purposes to become members of the association, and it was agreed that providing he was a respectable citizen any owner should be eligible, with the added proviso that the association, badge be only used in connection with pri-i vate cars. The following officers -were elected:—• President, Mr George Henning: vice-presl< dents, Messrs. M. M. McCallum, M. H. Wyn-i yard, and Dr C. B. Rossiter: committee, Messrs C. G. Brooks. C. J. ETJerbeck, Ay Grayson, J. Moody, H. T. Shepherd, R. B. Splnks. G. White, G. F. Mellars, P. Basley,and W. Coltman; auditor, -Mr E. G. Pinker.
