EIGHT-FOUR SHIFTS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Minister of Justice told a deputation from the Public Service Assiciation to-day. that the introduction of the eight hours day in the Police Force was being tried in Wellington, and if it was successful here it would be brought into force all over the Dominion. Members of the force were not unanimous in favour of it. however, and men had written to him saying they could not march for eight hours on the Wellington pavements. Sergeant Lopdell, who was present representing the force, said he Was surprised to hear what the Minister had said. He was sure the force would be indebted to the Minister for the opportunity to give the scheme a trial.
