The difficulties attendant upoii tho settlement of monetary affairs between young people who disagree after tho husband's return from the front was demonstrated in the Auckland S.M. Court to-day. when the wife's application for a separation order came before Mr E. C. Cutten. S.M. It was stated that there was a balance of £50 in the bank, the result of the wife's savings from her allotment and separation allowance, while a further £80 was due in reo-ard to retrospective pay. The defendant contended that as his wife had received .-C4.1.S 10/fi during his absence while he had only drawn £54 he had a substantia] interest in the savings. He suggested the wife retaining the £50 intact. His Worship was disinclined to separate the couple, suggesting instead as a temporary financial arrangement that the wife should keep the £50 and receive £3 a week for three months for herself and the children. Meantime the £80 might be used for securing a joint interest of some kind, no that there would be nn inducement for them to come together again. Ultimately the proceedings were adjourned for three months, a maintenance order being made for £3 a week, and arrangements being agreed to for the husband to visit the children, while his Worship recommended that they should keep apart for the period and then see if they could come together. The popular nursery rhyme "Little Jack Homer" is featured in a special window display of infants' shawls now on view at the J.C.L. Bring the children to see Little Jack Homer with his Pie. —John Court, Ltd., Queen St.—(Ad)
