i i.-rday's issue of the "Dominion" contains a long account of a remarkably successful gathering held under the auepicee of the Xow Zealand Efficiency League at the Wellington Town Hall on Sunday night. The meetin« was ad dressed by the Rev. Father Cronin and by Mr. Charles Todd, a prominent Uunedin layman of the Roman Catholic Church. Extraordinary interest was evidenced—in the "Dominion's" own words:—"Long before the time for the meeting to commence the big hall nas crowded in every part. The overflow was cent to the concert chamber, and still bnfore the hour appointed for th* meeting to commence the doors had to be locked. Numbers of people s*ill •ought admittance." Father Cronin quoted eminent Catholic dignitaries in favour or prohibition.
