Thompson, M.A., has been appointed lecturer in French at Victoria University College (war Appointment). Dr. and Mrs. Faber Fookes, of New Plymouth, are staying at the Central ; Hotel. Miss Lyra Veronica Esmeralda Taylor has ibeen admitted a barrister and soliciter of the Supreme Court by the Chief Justice, Sir Robert Stout. Mr. A. Hickling and Mr. W. Cooper, both of Hastings, are staying at the Grand Hotel. Major P. H. Buck (Te Rangihiroa), D.5.0., has now been transferred from the Pioneer Battalion at the front to the N.Z. Medical Corps. He will still remain in the field. Mr. G. A. Strack, MA, late of Wellington, has been appointed to a position on the staff of the Palmerston North High School.
