At a recent sitting of the Thames Hospital Beard it was decided to recommend for apolntmcnt as secretary Mr Geo. Tonge. This gentleman has been for eleven years in the service of Walhl G.M. Co.. and has also had considerable experience as secretary of the Waihi Oddfellows' I„dge CM.TJ.). The confirmation of his appointment is dally expected from the Health Department. While awaiting the appointment of a secretary to the Hospital Board, Mr T. W. Rhodes. M.P.. has very capably filled the position as acting secretary.
We are not yet by any means clear of flood damage. Slowly the streets are being cleaned up. but it is a costly business to the Borough Council, and the overdraft shows evidence of the continued financial strain. Government assistance was by no means so liberal as tbe nature of the calamity .-stifled the council in expecting.
