The High Commissioner's market report, dated London, .May 18, is as foUows , (quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot):— Meat.—Owing to small supplies, all lescriptlons meat prices are higher for Home killed mutton and beef. New Zealand mutton, per lb. SJd; ewe mutton. B}d: New Zealand lamb, lOd: Argentine mntton, lOd, Argentine lamb. lid. Quotations are nominal, and conditions of sale are the same as during last week. Argentine chilled heef: Hinds, 13Jd; fores, ll}d. Butter.—The market is quiet but steady. Prices are easier. Danish salted, 204/ to 208/. New Zealand salted. 1112/ to '206/; unsalted. 204/ to 20S/. Australian salted, 190/ to 104/; unsalted, 192/ to 196/. Irish creamery, salted, 194/ to IBS/: unsal ItS/ to 200/. Argentine, salted, ISG7 .o 190/; unsalted, 190/ to 132/. Cheese.—The market continues Arm. Oinadlnn white and coloured, 162/; United j States' flats, 160/. Hemp.—The market remains firm. There is a general and active demand, but little Is offered from New Zealand. It is reported there are 70.000 bales afloat from Manila, under Government contru;. New Zealand fair, May-June, ia selling at £S3; good fair, on spot, nominally to £84 lv/; fair, to fS3 10/. Wheat.—The market is quiet. But Arm. Canadian, SI/. Oats.—There Is a firm market, but the Government has entire control. The market is steady, and is likely to remain so. New Zealand, 56/. LONDON TA/LLOW MARKET. The New Zealand Loau and Mercantile Agency <'om-pany. 'Limited, b-ave received the following cablegram from their 'London house, under date iMay IC:— 'Tallow.—We quote present spot values: . Mutton. 66/ per c-wt; beef. 60/ per ovt; , mixed. ;>Ti/6 jier cwt. No discount/5 now allowed buyers. Market dull." The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company. Ltd.. report having received the following cablegram under date of 18th Instant, from their London house:— " Butter market dull, with downward ten- ' dency, £10 2/ to £10 a/."
