Mr Sydney Broadley. assistant curator of Portobeilo marine fish hatchery, has been appointed an Inspector oi Fisheries for Otago, in place of the curator, Mr. W. Adams, who has resigned. Mr. William Richardson, sen., the wellknown prohibition advocate, and proprietor of the Auckland "Free Press," who has been indisposed for some weeks, entered "Rawhiti" private hospital yesterday to undergo an operation which, it is hoped, will be the means of restoring him to health again. The Hon. Arthur M. Myers, Ministerof Customs and of Munitions and Sup- ] plies, and .Acting-Finance Minister, was the recipient of many congratulations jon Saturday, upon having reached lis fiftieth birthday anniversary, and in the evening he was entertained by the / Auckland < omraercial Travellers and I Warehousemen's Association at their I club looms.
