ALEXANDRA STREET CHURCH.
SEVENTIETH ANNIVERSARY. The seventieth anniversary of the opening of the Alexandra Street Methodist Church was celebrated at a social held last evening. Mr. David Goldie, who has been superintendent of the Sunday School for the past 55 years, presided, arid there was a large attendance of members and Sunday School children. Rev. C. H. Laws, chairman of the district, and Rev. J. J. Lewis, minister of the church, were present, tbe latter delivering an address. A programme of musical items was provided, and in the I course of tbe evening Master Trevor Sparling, organist of the church, who is taking up the position of organist at the Grafton Road Church, was presented with a wrist watch. Mr. and Mrs. Hardley, members of the church and old Sunday school pupils, wer presented with a family Bible as a wedding gift.
