Y.M.C.A. AT THE FRONT.

AFTER THE AVAR POLICY. About 200 Auckland business men heard Mr. H. Wheeler speak at the Chamber of Commerce on "Y.M.CAWar Work " this afternoon. Mr. Wheeler - is one of the national secretaries for Australia, and his outlining of schemes for the future were clear and impressive, besides being illustrative of the great part that this great organisation is playing in the World War. The speaker showed his keen knowledge of what great problems would have to he contended with after the war, and he ■emphasised the great need for a»en who could engineer the reconstruction of economic affairs after the war. The nationalisation of the scheme is the real purport of Hr. Wheeler's visit here. ■After his interesting discourse, Mr. Wheeler was voted thanks on the motion of the Hon. Geo. Fowlds, whose appreciation of the speaker's Temarks was seconded by Mr. Anderson, president of the Chamber of Commerce, and Mr. Bush. president of the Auckland V.M.C.A. Mr. Fowlds said that Auckland's yearly share in the great scheme for after-war work would mean about £500, and it was towards this grand total thta.t he was concentrating his efforts at the present time. An invitation w_6 given to those present to help in realising the money required.
