The Minister for Finance, addressing a meeting of editors of newspapers, stated that the revenue had exceeded tho estimate by £80,000,000. The savings banks numbered 12,000, compared with 8,000 before the war. Many depositors had transferred part of their savings to the war loan, which had been extremely successful. : ,
