Mr. C. J. Parr, M.P. for Eden, left for Taihape by the express last evening. Inspector Edward Wilson, of Wanganui police district, has been promoted to the honorary rank of Superintendent. He retires shortly on superannuation. Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Kitchler, of Cincinatti, United States, are staying at the Star Hotel. . . Mr. R. Fletcher, M-P. for Wellington Central, who was on the Parliamentary trip North, returned to Wellington by the express last night The Hon. Arthur Myers (Minister for Munitions and Acting-Minister of Finance) has so far sufficiently recovered from his recent indisposition that he has arranged to leave Auckland by to-morrow night's express for Wellington. Professor J. K. Scott and Messrs. James Marshbanks and J. P. Maxwell, of the Royal Commission on railway rolling stock, left for the South by last night'e express. 'v Mr. E. G.
