GERMAN STORY OF THE FIGHTING.
CAPTURE OF WHOLE VILLAGE OF LONGUEVAL CLAIMED. BEPTTLSE OF RUSSIAN ATTACKS ON RIGA FBOKT. (Received liO pjn.) AMSTERDAM, July 19. A Berlin communique says:—"We recaptured the village of Longueval and Delville Wood last night after fierce fighting by the Magdeburg 26th infantry regiment. In addition to sanguinary losses in killed and wounded, the Englisli lost eight officers and 280 men taken prisoner, and left a considerable number of machine-guns. Our curtain of fire dispersed enemy attacks north of Oyillcrs and on the southern border of Pozicres. The British have not had the slightest success anywhere. French local attacks north of Barleux, near Bclloy en Eanterre, failed. "The enemy continued fruitless efforte against German lines at Terra Froide, on the right bank of the Meuse, near Verdun. • "Yon Hindenburg's troops to the south' and south-west of Riga broke repeated Russian attacks with extraordinary high losses. Lively artillery activity prevails on the Stokhod, but elsewhere the line is quiet.
