Herr Battocki-, the Food Dictator, has failed to persuade, [the, southern States of Germany to permit the exportation of food in order to secure an equal distribution. The Prussians strongly resent the action of the southern-Germ-ans in this matter.' Owing to the failure of the project to feed the people by means of kitchens on wheels, the problem of communal feeding is being solved in Berlin by the ' ment of huge public, dining .halls. : The first of these kitchens has sixty-three boilers, holding 30,000 litres of food: Women arc employed in preparing the meals.
