The Wanganui Chamber of Commerce is arranging a conference of representatives of local bodies between Ohakune and Wanganui, also of Parliamentary representatives in the area affected, to discuss the possibility of building a railway line between Raetihi and Wanganui. This is the sequel to the intimation of the Minister of Railways that a trial survey route could not be carried out owing to the number of surveyors" who have enlisted. The conference will discuss the question of building the railway under the provisions of the Local Railways Act, in the event of the Government not being prepared to carry out the work.
