MANUKAU WATER BOARD.
■ — m QUESTION OF 6UFI''LY. A meetiug of the Manukau Water Supply Hoard was held last night, when there were present Messrs F. >H. Wood (chairman), Robert Hare, W. E. Hutchison, and J, J. O'Brien. The proposal that the Onehunga water supply should be used over a certain portion of the district was discussed, and it was pointed out that the Boarti >would save :kl per 10O> gallons by this means. j Au alternative proposal was made by i the chairman. He proposed that a I referendum be taken as to whether the I district continues using the City Council's ! water or revert to its original supply. Mr Wood stated that the Health Department had approved of the reversion to the original supply subject to certain conditions, including systematic sterilisation. The whole work would entail an additional expense of £300 a year, but by reverting to the old supply the cost to consumers could be reduced from 1/6 to 1/3 per thousand gallons. It was decided to send our voting papers with the next water rate notices, so that consumers might have an opportunity of registering their Messrs B. Hannlgan and J. Lupton were the successful tenderers for the layine of water mains in Wheturangl Road.
