(I>y Telegraph.—Fress Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. As a result of an application by the Canterbury Retail Drapers Assistants' Union, the Arbitration Court granted a 10 per cent war bonus to porters, storemen, and packers working under the Retail Soft Goods Employees' award. In the Aerated Water Workers' award, the Court also granted bottle-washers an •increase of 2/ a week over the amount recommended by the Conciliation Council. Previously the wage paid to these ■workers was £2 5/ a week. The Conciliation Council increased the amount to £2 8/, and the Court has now raised it to £2 10/. The principal difference in the Saddlers' award is a provision that piece-work rates -may be fixed by agreement between employers and union. Hitherto the rates were stated in the award.
