RECRUITING CAMPAIGN.
FURTHER ENLISTMENTS. 42 SINCE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. Recruiting was satisfactory at the city station since yesterday afternoon, though the percentage of passes was not very large. A total of 42 men were examined, of whom 12 were accepted, 20 being deferred, and 10 rejected. The names, occupations, and addresses of those accepted as fit are as follow: — No. 1 (CITY) GROUP. Reginald Benjamin, labourer, Mt. Eden. Alfred Blake, labourer, City. Andrew P. Johnston, tailor, Mt. Roskill. Peter Laurence, sharebroker, Rerauera. Roland Lowe, engineer, Devonport. William McKearney, fiaxworker, City. Robert G. McLeod, manufacturer, Symonds Street. Walter Neal, farmer, Port Albert. George S. Reid, clerk, N.S.S. Co., City. Harry Williams, barman, Princes Street. No. 2 (PAEROA) GROUP. Thomas Walker, seaman, Coromandel. No. 4 (HAMILTON) GROUP. Colin M. Leighton, storeman, Buckland. The following, previously deferred, have now been accepted as fit: — No. 1 (CITY) GROUP. Charles T. Jonas, clerk, Rocky Nook. Ernest V. Lye, linotype operator, Mount Eden. Fred. E. Morris, agent, Remuera. Alex. J. McKee, ironmonger, City. The Garrison Artillery Band will play selections outside the Recruiting Station this evening.
