An unusual case wae beard at the Dunedin Police Court yesterday. Arthur Jardinc Lockie was sentenced to two month*' imprisonment for assaulting Mrs. Usherwood, who is about 70 years of age, on the night of September 15. Lockie caught Mrs. Usherwood by the throat and threw her down, severely bruising her. There was no suggestion of indecency. The case for the defeneu •was that accused'had been drinking, and remembered nothing more until next morning, whon he woke in the police cell.
