We retired three kilometres. Otherwise all the jnemy attempts to break through failed." A later communique says:— "The battle was especially stubborn north of Moulmclon 1c Grand, close to the Western Argonnr. Here we made the enemy suffer the heaviest loffrs. One of our warplanes shot down an aeroplane went of Cambrni. and another was brought down south of Met*. One of our airmen repulsed sin attack on Frieburg by three French warplanes, of which two were shot down. "General yon Hindenburg's troops broke through at several points west of Wilcachnrw. We attacked and drove the Russians over the Berestna, mwth-weit of Sebreain. Farther south we reached the Memeii, near J>uie»tituchi, taidag priioaer 800 men.
