MARITZ CAPTURED.
BOER WHO WAS A DOUBLE TRAITOR. TAKEN WITH HANDFUL OF FOLLOWERS. PRETORIA, August 10. Maritz, the Iloer leader, has been arrestod in Angola. Portuguese territory, north of Oerman South-west Africa. The Portuguese nuthoritiPs arrested Marita, and also a handful of I'nion rebels.
Colonel Maritz was in command of a Union force last spring, and his adhesion to the Germane was the first overt art in thp short-lived rebellion which was so cleverly crushed by General Botha. As soon as the treachery of Maritz and his commando was established a force was dispatched to effect his capture-, but Maritz escaped across the border and joined the e-nerny. The Germane in turn discovered that Maritz was acting traitorously towards them, and he finally 'disappeared. It was rumoured a few months ago that he had escaped frobi South Africa.
