A discussion rook place at last nichfs meetin? of the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Leagne on the arrangements for the match between City Rivers and Grafton Athletic, which will determine the championship of the senior j competition. The meeting was unanimonslv of opinion that no good purpose eonld be served by playing the other two matches in the stage of the second round, and it was decided t» abandon them so that interest could be concentrated in the big game between City and Grafton. This will be played on the main pitch of the Victoria Park, and will be preceded by a curtain-raiser, Remuera v. Thames Old Boys. Mr. R. Pnilock. the City Club delegate raised the question of the choice of referee for the game, aud sus?ested that, in order to meet the convenience of both clnbs. the Appointment Board of the Referees' Association should be .-sked to recorder its j decision with a view to requesting Mr I.
