The funeral of Mr. H. K. Burns, 8.A., school inspector in the service of the. Auckland Education Board, was attended this afternoon by a large gathering of representative educationists of this district, including members of the Board and of the inspectorial and tcac-hing staffs.

When that school was closed, in 1012, in accorda&ce with the scheme of redistribution of the school districts. Mr. Burns was appointed to the headmastcrship at Newmarket.

In May last year he was appointed from a long list of highly-qualified applicants to a post on the inspectorate of the Auckland Education district, tbe appointment carrying the goodwill and the congratulations of all the teachers of Auckland. The late Mr. Heclor Burns belonged to a well-known Thames family, his brother (Mr. Archie Burns) being one of the representatives of that district on tbe Board of Education.
