WIRELESS SIGNALS OF DESPAIR FROM GARRISON. TROOPS DRIVEN BACH FROM RUSSIAN TRENCHES. AMSTERDAM, March 23. An official message from Vienna states that Przemysl has honourably fallen. General yon Kusmanek, In his last sortie, resisted the enemy to the utmost in a seven hours' battle, but was forced to retreat. The Russians attacked the town on several sides the following night. The attacks failed, but only three days' food was left. The commander was instructed at the end of that time to abandon the fortress after destroying all material, which was done. "The fall of the fortress," states the Austrian communique, "does not affect the general situation." Austrian troops in the Lupkow Pass and Germans in the Koniomoka Pass in the Carpathians responded on Sunday to wireless signals of despair from PrzemysL The forces struggled furiously to reach the San Valley. The men in the Enssian trenches met each wave of the attacking hordes. Towards dusk the Russians charged with the bayonet. Great bloodshed resulted, especially among the Germans on the Hunkaez Koad. Thousands of Austrians surrendered at Lupkow.
