MOUNT EDEN BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Ibe Mount Eden Borough Council met last night, wbfn there were present: The Mayor (Mr Oliver Nicholson), Messrs E. H. Potter, J. W. Sliackleford, D. Meikle. C. Hudson. H. H. Seabrook, VT. Woolley, J. W. Jones, A. G. Lee, E. Yates. Claims for Bridges.—The Newmarket Borough Council informed the Council that mi account had been received from the Railway Department claiming for the cost of redecldng ■> railway bridge within the borouzh. under the provisions of Section 13 of The New Zealand Railways Amendment Act, 1913. A further letter was received from the City Council suggesting a conference, on a date to be arranged, of representatives of the City Council and the Mt. Eden. Mt. Albert and Newmarket Borough Councils, to consider the scope and administration of The Public Works Act on that question. Councillors concurred in the need for such conference, and appointed Messrs Potter and Lee to represent the Mount Eden Borough Council. A Word for Drainage.—The necessity of drainage in the volcanic area as well as in the clay area was urged in a letter which was received from the Colonial Ammunition Co. The writers stated that drainage was particularly required in their portion of the district, whore about 200 people were employed. It was decided that the company be informed that a poll on the loan proposals would be again taken on April 10.
