XST3ZAN GOVERNMENT SCHEME. COHTEOKEXPOHT AND PRICES. (Received 11.5 a.m.) DELHI. March 22. The Legtslatare Council is considering a. Tesohition to> prohibit the export of wheat until the price-foils to an equivalent of seventeen pounds for- sixteen pence. Mr. Clarke, member of the .Viceroy's Council, annonnoed that the (Government proposed, to assume the control of the exporti-of trade, following the Sues that, no , -wheat should be exported, save on the 'Government account, from the Ist of April next to the Sist of ilareh, KJlti. The leading-export-wheat lirtua will be employed as agents to buy On commission at prices indicated by the. Government. The Gov-ernment-win take the profit which will represent the difference between the world price and the Indian price, tlje latter being kept up artificially. The price at which tie Government has commenced buying is not announced, but it •will be relatively high as compared with the prices to-be offered later. The Government hope in this way to bring- prices steadily and snrely down. The prices in effect -will be regulated through the -export trade in the interests of the ."consumer.
