In his address the chairman referred to toe number of members who were fortunate enough to be now actively serving at the. front. The Divisional Signal Company;with which the club was so closely con", nected, bad furnished a detachment .oftwenty.five men for Samoa, and a-fnHher. thirty-five men as the Auckland quota of the signallers with the main hrty: Tof the; Expeditionary Forces. As far as conld be "ascertained, the total number of members now engaged in active service was ninetyone, inctwtteg-tfae president of the clubr Major T. H. Dawson. '.".-■ Two members of the clnb had . elreaoy given their lives in tße -service of the : Empire. These were Captain Oliver Steele, who was killed--in action in the North ol : France, and Private Roy Gareide Culpan, ' who died at sea while en route to Egypt.
