ANOTHER CONVERT.
EPSOM SEEKS AMALGAMATIQN
At last nighfs meeting of the Epsom Road Board., the chairman (Mr. F. H. Wood) said that the time had come for the Board to consider the matter of the district's amalgamation with the city. Mr. Wood pointed" out that -when- the question had previously come before the Board it had been turned down for the reason; that amalgamation would have meant jumping over Newmarket and Remuera. Now. however, the position was different, for the latter, district had joined, and the former was thinking about doing so. Amongst other advantages, tlie district ■would obtain a better .-water supply and an up-to-date fire-fighting plant by joining the city. The motion was put and carried unanimously: "That a sub-commit-tee, consisting of .Messrs. F. H. Wood, R. G. Clark, and E. Clay, be appointed to interview the Auckland City Council and ascertain the best terms on which the Epsom Road District can join Greater Auckland, and report the result to the next meeting of.the Board, with.a_view to placing the. matter before the fatepayers and the" taking of a" poll on the . question if deemed advisable."
