SENTENCED TO DEATH.
A WESTRALIAN MURDER. FARM HAND'S CALLOUS CRIME, I (Received 11.50 a-m.) . . PERTH, this day. Sentence of death was yesterday passed on the prisoner Cutay, found, guilty of the murder of a girl named Bell. The murder, which was a particularly cold-blooded one, was committed at Marrinap, W.A., on January 13 last. A little girl of 12 years, named Bell, was sleeping on a verandah. In the morning she was found with her head battered to pieces by an axe. Cutay was employed on the farm of the murdered girl's father, and had been dismissed the night before after having insulted the deceased's sister. Cutay, who was also known by the name of Fachcri (lie is an Italian) 'miue a written confession, in which he said: "I am a dishonour to my nation, flag, country, and religion.-I don't know why I did it. I beg only that you will kill mc as soon as possible. I am terribly sorry. I don't want any mercy. Full justice, please; no more." In reply to questions at the preliminary hearing he was unable to answer more than reiterate: "Please kill mc. Kill mc."
