TAKAPUNA TRAMS.
OFFERED TO BOROUGH COUNCIL. A suggestion which was made by a member of the Takapuna Borough Council recently for the taking over of the ferry-tram service between Auckland and Takapuna would appear likely to have a practical outcome. Negotiations have been taking place during the past few days between the directors of the Takapuna Ferry and Tramways Company and members of the Takapuna Borough Council, with the result that an offer to sell the equipment as a going concern is being considered by tbe latter. This offer, it is understood, stipulates a prise equivalent to a little more than the face value of the shares which are held in the company. Meanwhile, however, another gentleman has approached the directors with an offer to float a company for the buying out of the existing company with English capital, at s, price a. good deal above par value. It is likely that the matter will be discussed at the monthly meeting of the Takapuna Borough Council to-night
