WAIHI SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI. Wednesday. The iinniul meeting of the Waihi Settlers' Association' was held last evening in the Borough Chambers. Mr F. Haszard pre?.,led. The foil,,wing resolution was carried: "That the question of a siding on the Plains be referred to the Railway Department; that the School ConrmltTee be communicated with in regard to the urgent necessity of establishing a school on the Plaius: that the matter of procuring shelter rees be referred to ihe Forestry Department: that ihe Horticultural nopartniont be asked to give a demonstration on Mr. Slevin's young orchard ai Rulllownc that Mr Sehmitt .secretary of the Farmers' Unioni be asked to give an address on tbe advisability ~f the Association joining the Union: that the question of erection of saleyards be proceeded with. The following is the rcsul: of the election of officers; President. Mr. .I. c. Comes: secretary and treasurer, Mr. ,1. E. Slevin; committee. Messrs. S. Thompson. T. Dutton. T. Cor don. Hove Why-brow. E. tribson and Tieruey. Messrs. M. F. Huszard. Harris, and Ticrney were appointed to represent the Association before the Commission of Inquiry into goldtieids titles. Mr. .1. C.
Comes -was appointed to represent the Association on the Chamber. of Commerce. Regret \vas expressed at the death of tbe late secretary of the Association l.\lr. G. Corliett'. and a vote of condolence with his relatives was passed.
