SPECIAL CONSTABLES ASSEMBLING.
ARRANGEMENTS KEPT SECRET. (By Telegraph.--Press Association., (JHRIPTCULRCH, this day. Specials are assembling. The authorities refuse to give information as to their intentions. Mr. Bishop, ,t,he. Magis trate, will sw<-ar them in, but will not allow reporters or the public to be present. He says he does not intend to have men pilloried for doing their duty. It is assumed that the specials will be taken to Lyttelton to-morrow morning. Stores are being conveyed to Aldington camp, where Mr. Chaffey. the officer com-manding. and members of the Citizens' Committee are busy. Tents are being erected. The city specials have received orders to go into camp to-day with blankets and equipment. The balance of the country specials are expected to axriye this afternoon and evening. The tramway-men meet to-morrow to consider their .position. Efforts are being made to induce the union to support the strikers, but apparently n majority of the. tramwaymen are unfavourable to drastic action.
