ELLERSLIE TOWN BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Ellerslie Town Board was held last evening, tnere being present: Messrs. Geo. Wdltinson (chali-man), XV. 11. Gavin. A. llewson, O. Slye, and s. Somerfield. Tarnaii Bridge Allocations.—ln answer to the resolutions passed by different bodies and forwarded to the Hon. Minister of Public Works, the Prime Minister, Mr. W. F. Massey. replied that the Government had provided a liberal grant on the Estimates for tiie work, and" regretted.' that It was not possible to increase the amount. Hose Connections.—The turncock was Instructed to keep a sharp look-out for people using the garden hose in any other way than holding the hoae in the handl, and to proceed against any consumer found breaking the by-law. Considerable discuss-on took place as to whether every consumer with a hose connection should, be given notice to iustal a meter, hut no decision was arrived at. Straying Animals.—Complaints were received about animals being allowed to stray and pasture on tiie roads, and It was resolved that the ranger be instructed to summons any owners found herding or allowing their animals to be at large on the roads. Applications for Water: It was resolved that intending consumers moist give three days" notice of their application for a supply. Heavy Traffic*licenses.—The clerk was instructed to write to the Board's solicitor asking him to define the Board's posi_>a in -reference to licensing heavy traffic. Finance.—Accounts amounting to £11] 3/ were passed.
