FATAL ACCIDENT.
RUN.-OVER BY A TRUCK.
Frederick William Soppet, of Mercer, died in the Auckland- • Hpspital at an early, hour this morning as the result of injuries received at the United Coal Company's private-railway siding (.two miles south of Mercer) yesterday afternoon. Soppet. was employed as a and was loading coal into trucks at the railway siding in question. He failed, to, notice, the approach of a truck that was: being shurited pn to the siding,,and was knocked down and very severely crushed, receiving injuries from which "he. subsequently died. Dr Wake attended the sufferer and caused him to be rempved tap the hospital by the Rotonia train. An inquest was opened this .afternopn, but after evidence of identification had been] taken, further inqnirv was adjourned. '
