SMALLPOX IN SYDNEY.
SEVEN CASES ON SATTTRDAY. ONE AT GOVERNT&EHT HOUSE. SYDNEY. August 17. Seven cases of smallpox, including a policeman, were reported on Saturday. Thirteen other cases were reported in the metropolitan area to-day, including the wife of a coachman employed at Cranbrook, the State Government House. She resides with her husband and son on the Cranbrook Estate. She had postponed bein<2 vaccinated, r.lthough all the others there, including the Governor, were vaccinated some time ago. The tota.l eases in Sydney since the outbreak numbered 400. The week's patients included a schoolboy at St. Joseph's College. Hunter's Hill. 'Hie building and grounds have been quarantined. A message from Brisbane states that all the contacts there have been released from quarantine. leaving only two patients, who are nearly well.
