COMMITTED. (Received 11.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The sentence of death passed on W, Wright for the murder of Myrtle Caldwell has been commuted to imprisonment foi life. The report of three medical experts stated that though Wright was not insane he was of somewhat unstable menaliy. EMPIRE APPEAL COURT. SYDNEY, '.his day. A private cablegram from Chief Justice Griffith states that lies ■en offered a seat in the Imperial Appc -ite Court, but he has - not yet come to a ecision. MAWSOTTS EXPEDITION. SYDNEY, August 17. A rumour that Dr. Mawson'a Antarctia expedition had perished was current yesterday. Inquiry was made by wireless, and proved that the story was groundless, the message received stating that the party was all well.
