BURGLAR'S HtHMUED EXIT, WHEN FACED WITH A REVOLVER. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TE AWAMUTU, Sunday. Mr Newton, teller of the local branch of the Union Bank of Australasia, who sleeps in the temporary premises occsi. pied by the bank, was awakened in the early hours of yesterday -morning by tho •footsteps of a burglar. 'Mr Newton drew the bank revolver from under his pillow, and challenged the intruder, but the man, .whose form was not easily d-jtinguisi-able in the darkness, made a dive for one of the back rooms, and escaped through a small window wiiie-h had evidently been his means of entrance. Mr Newton's bed was in the banking chamber, which was naturally the burglarVs objective. Thu police were duly informed, but so far no arrest bas -been made.
